Beautyberry Bug Spray
It works! And it smells great! Herbal and bright. I created this by harvesting the leaves of the gorgeous beautyberry bush, pineapple sage, lemon verbena, African blue basil, holy basil, and peppermint. I extracted and distilled those herbs separately with high-proof organic cane alcohol, and distilled them in a copper still with spring water from my well :)
This was my first go at bug spray, but I have always heard that you can distill or extract beautyberry leaves for helping with mosquito prevention, so I figured I would do both and mix them because that’s kinda how my brain works. When the alcohol evaporates, the herbs that the bugs don’t like are left on your skin.
Try to keep it off of clothes :) It may sting open cuts due to the alcohol. You can also use it as a spray cleaner.
2 oz amber glass spray bottle
Raw Honey
Pretty self-explanatory. It’s really good though. It’s light, floral, sweeeet (isn’t all honey?), and I just love the idea that it came from the bees who live amongst the jungle here.
The bees are currently loving the sweet almond, basil flowers, Mexican sunflowers, turmeric flowers, zinnias, and more. I love trying honey from different places because it truly is always so different, and I think it’s a nice thing you can do for your microbiome :)
Perfect little 2 oz glass jar.
Turmeric Orange Glow Oil
The product of a fun experiment with using gold turmeric in an oil. If you are not familiar, I make a Rainbow Root Turmeric Oil with white, green, blue, and purple turmeric. This has been a much-loved product for 3 years. Seriously, the amount of testimonials I have received over the years for this oil is insane. There is magic in these roots.
Anyways, this time I used jojoba oil, gold turmeric, and organic dried orange peels that I saved from a Juice & Yoga event that Adam and I did the week before. It came out really nice. I then blended it with organic macadamia nut oil, raspberry seed oil, and baobab oil. I wanted to make it more nutritive and more like a serum.
Lovely consistency & the scent is so good and bright and orangey, and the oil definitely gives you a moisturized & beautiful glow.
Howeverrr, I would recommend using it in the morning or at night if you don’t mind staining your pillowcase. The orange turmeric in there can stain clothing and towels, so be aware. It will not stain your skin :)
1 oz glass pump bottle
Turmeric Creamsicle Lip Scrub
Okay, so this is pretty cool! I saved the orange peel oil turmeric goodness from the oil and used it to make a sugar lip scrub! I added organic coconut glycerine, raw organic Florida cane sugar, vanilla bean powder, and some coconut oil.
It. Came out. So. Good!!
I loveeeee it. I wish I made more bc turmeric and vanilla is my go-to!! I also used to live on Turmeric Dreamsicle Smoothies (turmeric, banana, clementines, so much vanilla, cashews or walnuts, lemon, milk of choice... so good), so this kinda reminds me of that.
We also served a Turmeric Dreamsicle mocktail at our Spring Farm-to-Table Dinner. ’Twas a hit.
You can use it on more than just your lips, but it was a small batch, so lip scrub it is :)
1 oz glass jar
Rainbow Root Turmeric Glycerite
This was also my first experiment making a non-alcoholic version of Rainbow Root Tincture, which is my #1 best seller. It came out soo goooood.
I used a lot of red turmeric and BKK from this amazing Hawaiian farm that I source my planting roots from, Yogarden Hawaii :) They’re amazing. I actually first discovered rainbow turmeric varieties on their farm in Oahu in 2019. I thought, “Hmmm, wouldn’t it be cool to grow that someday?” Crazy how it all works...
Anyways! This variety is said to have the highest levels of curcumin. So I used organic coconut vegetable glycerine to extract the magic out of gold, blue, green, purple, white, red, and BKK turmeric.
It’s truly a way tastier way to get concentrated turmeric goodness into your life. This is the first release of this product, and it will definitely be something I’ll be offering more of in the near future :)
1 oz dropper bottle
Bath Salts
Late summer dried herbs and flowers from the garden. Pineapple sage, holy basil, lemon verbena, cosmos, calendula, and peppermint.
It smells super yummy. I love just sniffing it, but it’s nice in the bath too. We dried the herbs and blitzed them with Epsom salts. An amazing thing to add to a bath when you need a little relaxation.
No added fragrance or oils, so it’s quite mild, but I really love the smell. You also get the benefits of the herbs basically making a tea bath :)
5oz jar. About 1 big serving of bath soak (but you can use it however you like).
Toasted Fig Leaf & Pineapple Sage Hydrosol
So nice. Very light and refreshing. I love making hydrosols in my copper distiller.
Toasted fig leaves have such a unique vanilla-coconutty compound, especially when toasted. We actually got this idea from a super cool chef from Aspen, the owner of Bosq... Barclay! Such a cool guy. Anyways, we made an ice cream with it for the Spring Farm-to-Table Dinner... it was incredible.
So! Coconut pineapple felt like summer, right?
The pineapple sage is a new garden favorite of mine. First year growing it, and it is prolific and loves the Florida heat and can handle a little neglect. Also! So does marshmallow root.
So, pineapple sage and toasted fig leaf hydrosol. Hydrosols are perfect refreshers for your skin or vibe. I love them and spray them all over my face throughout the day. I also love keeping them in the fridge.
2 oz glass spray bottle
Sold as a set of 7 :) Cheers to a summer of harvesting and creating with the land
